If you want him to go outside on the grass, it's not the greatest idea if the grass is ulltimately where you want him to go because that adds an additional step in the training process. However, if your dog or puppy has to go while you're not home and you can't take him outside, paper training or using a litter box is certainly preferable to going on the floor.

Your puppy or dog needs you to tell him what a good dog he is as he is going in the right place.
